Blue Ridge Humane Society

Blue Ridge Humane Society is a non profit 501 c3 animal welfare organization and shelter dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of life for animals in Henderson County and neighboring communities through adoption, outreach, and education. Blue Ridge Humane Society envisions a community that embraces the protection, compassion and the highest quality of life for animals. I can say after seeing it first-hand that the individuals who work here are dedicated and compassionate professionals.

This shelter is full of people who care. Volunteers who selfishly dedicate their time to helping these lovable animals. First incorporated in 1950 and built in1966 on property donated by the county. In 1972 the society began to operate both an independent shelter and thrift store.

Located on 8 beautiful acres the animal shelter was again built and opened in 1989, with a major renovation in 2013. The helpful team of volunteers assesses behaviors and treats conditions prior to adoptions. Each animal leaves vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and spayed or neutered. Potential adopting families are screened to contribute to the successful adoption process.

During our visit to the facility we noticed how well these animals were taken care of. Clean and organized and full of people who want nothing but the best for their furry friends. Today we have chosen to highlight one dog and one cat at this facility.
